3 Reasons To Get Same Day Crowns

If you've ever actually had a crown placed over one of your teeth in the past, you understand that the procedure normally involves at least 2 appointments to the dentist and the positioning of a short-term crown prior to you getting your permanent one.

However, there is a new procedure for getting crowns that can allow you to obtain a long-term crown the same day. As the name indicates, same day crown devices enables crowns to be produced right there next to the dental practitioner's chair.

Take a look at a couple of reasons why same day crowns may be right for you.

Natural Looking Teeth

Same day crowns are made entirely of ceramic, getting rid of the requirement for metal. While metal crowns are completely practical and safe, they're frequently considered less attractive than ceramic.

Ceramic crowns more closely resemble your natural enamel, making them an visually preferable option, especially for highly-visible front teeth.

Same day crown machines can match the crown exactly to the shade of your natural teeth.

Saves Time And Money

Every hour you invest at the dental practitioner's office is an hour off work or away from another activity or obligation.

Having to go back to the dental practitioner's office multiple times for one treatment might indicate getting time off at work approved for more than one day, hiring a sitter for more than one day, or filling your car with gas to drive out of your way more than once in a brief time-span.

Any which way you take a look at it, numerous dental visits cost you money, in addition to exactly what you're spending on the dental procedure. Getting everything carried out in one appointment conserves time, and time is money.

Conserves More Natural Teeth

The device used in the same day crown treatment takes a digital scan of your tooth and then is used to mill the crown on the spot, using the exact requirements offered by the digital scan.

This enables the dentist to preserve as much of your natural tooth structure as possible, which is the healthiest option for your jaw.

This also allows the dental practitioner to use the machine to develop inlays or onlays. These are partial crowns, used when you need more coverage than a filling will offer but less than a full crown.

Thanks to the more accurate digital measurements provided by the same day crown machine, teeth that might once have needed a complete crown may now be candidates for only a partial crown.

If you think that one of your broken teeth will probably require a crown, make sure to make a visit with our dental practitioners today.

Today We Will Be Going Over:

Temporal-Mandibular Joint

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint may be triggered by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and 5 muscles are associated with the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble or soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, sometimes extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Often a plastic mouth piece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the problem. If untreated and required to extremes, surgery might be needed to fix a terribly damaged joint.
