A Couple Advantages Of Getting A Same Day Crown

Crowns are a very common dental procedure that is typically needed when somebody's tooth is broken or if the tooth has broken down to the point where a filling will not be effective.

Typical crowns are relatively inconvenient to get, however there is an alternative. Same-day crowns are a great choice because they are easier and result in less discomfort:

A Lot Less Painful

A traditional crown can result in pain for a couple of reasons, however among the greatest sources of discomfort and pain is an outcome of having to get a short-term crown.

A temporary crown is used as a placeholder to secure your exposed tooth till your permanent crown can be provided to your dentist. This can take anywhere from a few days to a few weeks.

The issue with a short-term crown is that they are not very strong, which means that they can break or come loose really quickly.

A busted or loose temporary crown will expose your tooth to liquids and food, both of which can cause quite a bit of pain if they reach the exposed nerves below the short-term crown.

Another source of pain originates from a loose crown rubbing along your gums. This rubbing can get to the point where it can get rather painful and start to bleed, which also opens up the path for potential infections.

Fortunately, a same-day crown will provide you with a permanent crown at the end of your very first appointment to the dentist.

This gets rid of the requirement for a short-term crown, thus permitting you to prevent all the discomfort and pain.

More Convenient

A standard crown is not a very convenient treatment to have performed, mainly because it typically takes a minimum of two appointments to finish.

If your short-term crown is broken or falls off, which is common, you will have to make another visit to have it changed. This can be a huge problem if you have a hectic schedule on your hands, or if you have a job that prevents taking some time off in the middle of a busy work day.

However, a same-day crown can be finished in a single day, with a single appointment. This is enabled due to the fact that many dentists will acquire the devices to make their own crowns, instead of having to order crowns from a dental laboratory.

This lets you avoid the trouble of having to possibly spend weeks and several visits to your dental practitioner before the procedure is over and finished with.

Speak with your dentist and inquire about the advantages offered by a same-day crown. A same-day crown can provide you with a convenient and reasonably pain-free alternative to a traditional crown.

Today's Conversation Is About:

Temporal Mandibular Joint

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint may be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are associated with the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can trigger:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble or soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, sometimes extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. In some cases a plastic mouth piece is utilized to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the issue. If unattended and taken to extremes, surgery might be required to fix a severely damaged joint.
