Tooth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a gorgeous and appealing smile.
Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to the majority of dental restorations, veneers may one day need replacement; however, they are still very long lasting and will last many years, offering you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is put over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are normally only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct method typically involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is typically referred to as bonding.
The indirect method usually involves 2 appointments because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental laboratory. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory produced veneers are normally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the procedure is normally less unpleasant. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care instructions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and lovely veneers.
