Two Reasons To Speak With Your Dental Professional About Same Day Crowns

Same day crowns are a great option that makes getting a crown a lot more convenient and less time-consuming. These crowns work in much the same way as traditional crowns, other than that same-day crowns are made in the dentist's office while you are waiting, rather than being bought from a dental lab like standard crowns.

Listed below are two reasons to speak to your dentist about the possibility of getting a same day crown:

A lot more Convenient

Convenience is going to be the most significant reason that many individuals choose to opt for a same-day crown.

In the past, getting a crown would mean that you would need to pay multiple visits to your dental practitioner before the crown was in position, with one visit committed to preparing your tooth and another appointment to put the long-term crown over your tooth.

While that might not appear like it is too time-consuming, it can often be difficult to take time off from your job or family numerous times in the length of a week or two in order to see your dental practitioner during regular business hours.

Considering that the same-day crown is produced in-house by your dentist, you will have the last crown fitted over the tooth before you leave from your one required crown appointment.

This is handy because you won't need to stress over irritating your boss, having your colleagues cover for you, or missing out on pay because you needed to leave in the middle of the work day numerous times to go to the dentist.

A Lot More Comfortable

Another reason to ask your dental practitioner for a same-day crown is comfort. Same day crowns are more comfortable because you won't need to spend a week or more wearing a short-term crown while waiting for your permanent crown.

A short-term crown can frequently be a source of quite a bit of inflammation and discomfort due to the fact that it can frequently end up being loose quickly.

When a temporary crown is loose, it can permit liquids to get under it and touch nerves in the exposed roots of your tooth. The loose fit can also trigger the temporary crown to move along your gum and trigger the skin to end up being scratched and inflamed.

While you typically do not have to wear a short-term crown for long, a same-day crown can allow you to avoid any problems associated with the temporary crown completely.

This kind of crown is going to be both a lot more comfortable and much more practical to obtain than a standard crown.

Temporal-Mandibular Joint

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint may be triggered by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and 5 muscles are associated with the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, in some cases extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Sometimes a plastic mouthpiece is utilized to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the problem. If unattended and required to extremes, surgery may be needed to fix a severely damaged joint.
