Two Benefits Offered By Same Day Crowns

Crowns can often be a bit of a headache to get, mostly because standard crowns will often require numerous visits before the procedure is actually finished.

Nevertheless, many dental practitioners have actually chosen to buy the necessary tools to make same day crowns within their practice.

Listed below are just 2 of the great advantages provided by opting for a same day crown:

It's Convenient
Looking for time to obtain a traditional crown can be more than a bit difficult for anyone that has a hectic work or home life.

It can be extremely difficult to convince your manager let you take time off in the middle of the work day at least twice in the span of a few weeks to finish the process.

This is necessary for a crown treatment as you will need to go to the dental practitioner to have your tooth prepared for the crown then go in once again a week or more later in order to have the last crown applied.

However, you do not need to fret about requesting time off multiple times or to find a babysitter for your kids more than once throughout a same day crown treatment.

Since the dental practitioner can make your crown in the office, he or she can usually apply the permanent crown as soon as your tooth is treated and shaped for the crown.

This is great as you will not have to take the chance of troubling your boss, colleagues, sitter, or family.

They Are More Comfortable

Another reason to think about a same day crown is merely because it can be a fair bit less uncomfortable than a traditional crown treatment.

This is because the fact that you do not have to wait a number of days or weeks between steps in the crown procedure entirely negates the requirement for a short-term crown.

Short-term crowns are used to secure your tooth after your initial visit up until your final crown arrives and is put on.

Regrettably, short-term crowns will often not fit all that well which can result in liquids and food getting under it and reaching your exposed nerves and causing pain.

In addition, an uncomfortable short-term crown is going to be prone to moving around. This shifting can cause the temporary crown to scratch your gums or the inside of your cheeks.

Sure, this kind of crown is just meant to be used for a brief time period, however it can be rather unpleasant for that short period of time.

Today's Discussion Will Be About:

TMJ (Temporal-Mandibular Joint)

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint may be triggered by a misalignment of the teeth, injury, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and 5 muscles are associated with the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble or soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, often extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps in between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Often a plastic mouth piece is utilized to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the problem. If unattended and required to extremes, surgery may be required to fix a terribly damaged joint.
