Are you too busy for the typical two dental appointment crown?

Technology today is changing our everyday lives. Many individuals, however, aren't aware that technology also is affecting dentistry in new and exciting ways.

Cutting-edge innovations in dental instruments are requiring less time in the dental chair, triggering less discomfort and creating satisfying outcomes.

One breakthrough instrument, called same day crowns, permits dental practitioners to rapidly restore broken teeth with natural-colored ceramic fillings, saving clients time and inconvenience.

Exactly what are Same Day Crowns?

Same day crowns, indicates that a dental practitioner can economically restore damaged teeth in a single appointment using a premium ceramic product that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How does it work?

Same day crowns use CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, integrating a camera, computer, and milling machine in one instrument.

The dental practitioner uses a unique camera to take an accurate image of the damaged tooth. This optical impression is moved and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dental practitioner utilizes CAD technology to design the restoration. The CAM takes control and automatically creates the restoration while the patient waits.

At lastly, the dental practitioner bonds the brand-new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The entire process takes about two hours.

Exactly what does this development do for a patient?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings tarnishing smiles. The filling is natural-looking, compatible with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant.

Dentists don't need to create temporaries or take impressions and send them to a laboratory. Because of this, the standard 2nd appointment has been removed.

Same day crowns have two decades of clinical research and paperwork to support the technology. The restorations have actually been shown exact, safe and effective.

How can I find out if this is an option for me?

Call our office today and we will be happy to address your concerns on this brand-new technology.

Today's Topic Is:

UltraSonic Tooth Cleaning

We use ultrasonic scalers for a lot of adult dental cleanings. These devices use ultrasonic vibrations to help breakdown the plaque and calculus on the teeth that trigger gingivitis and gum disease. The ultrasonic cleaners develop microscopic bubbles that implode on the surface of the tooth, killing microorganisms and getting rid of plaque and tartar in the process. Our instruments use a thin tip to better navigate in the periodontal pockets to help maintain optimal gingival health.

  • The procedure only uses water, no chemicals are used.

  • It can eliminate tartar buildup in hard-to-reach areas, with no damage to the tooth enamel.

  • Manual scaling commonly uses pressure for cleaning, while the vibration produced by the scaling tip of an ultrasonic scaler is hardly noticeable. This makes ultrasonic cleaning ideal to those with vulnerable teeth.

  • The cleaning process is faster than manual scaling making your visit more comfortable.

After your teeth have been cleaned with the ultrasonic cleaner, your teeth will be hand scaled to look for any residual deposits then polished.
