Today's Discussion Has To Do With:

Dentures (Dental)

There are various types of dentures, but they share their common function. They replace teeth that have actually become loose or been lost due to bone loss. When bone loss around the roots of teeth is great enough to let them fall out or loosen them, it's time for dentures. Relax. No one enjoys losing their natural teeth, but you can still eat and talk regularly.

The entire mouth is analyzed and a determination is made about which teeth will have to be removed, and which will stay. The loose teeth are then removed. Dentures are fitted to go around or over whatever teeth remain in the mouth, depending upon the type. There is an adjustment time after dentures are positioned in the mouth, and it can take some getting used to. But once accustomed to the dentures, all the regular capability and appearance return and one just carries on as usual. Typically implants can be used to further stabilize the dentures.

It is very important to keep in mind that life with an upper denture, a lower denture, and especially both, is a major lifestyle change when compared to natural teeth. Dentures impact the type of food you are able to eat, your self-esteem in social circumstances, and even your self-confidence.

Reasons For Getting A Full Denture:

  • All Teeth missing in the very same arch

  • Restore chewing capability

  • Restore a natural looking smile

  • Economical alternative to other procedures

An upper complete denture will almost always feel much better than a lower full denture. In order to dramatically improve the fit of a lower full denture, we regularly suggest using dental implants as a retentive mechanism. Two dental implants put in the lower jaw can help anchor the denture and substantially improve comfort. In some cases, the implants can even be positioned in the jaw after a denture has actually been in use for a number of years.
