Same Day Crowns

Same day crown technology plays a vital role in our practice. This remarkable development in chair side dentistry offers us the tools to design, produce, and set crowns, inlays and onlays in a single visit.

The Same Day Crown Difference

The traditional approach to a crown or inlay and onlay typically needed a return visit after the patient waited (with a temporary restoration in the tooth) for about two weeks while the restoration was manufactured in a separate laboratory. Same day crown CAD/CAM innovation eliminates the wait!

How Do Same Day Crowns Work?

Same day crowns use a unique camera to take an precise photo of the broken tooth. This optical impression is moved and shown on a color computer screen, where the dentist utilizes CAD (computer-aided design) software to develop the restoration.

Then CAM (computer-aided manufacturing) takes over and immediately mills the restoration while the patient waits. Finally, the brand-new restoration is bonded in place.

The entire procedure takes about one hour, and there are no frustrating temporaries or second visit required!

Proven Technology

With two decades of medical research and more than 20 million restorations performed worldwide, same day crowns have shown to be a an effective, safe and hassle-free technology that we are delighted to offer to our clients.

Today Were Reviewing:

Endodontic Treatment (Root Canal)

Root canal treatment (also described as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is needed when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and identify issues early). Sometimes deep restorations or trauma to a tooth might also cause the nerve to be damaged to the point it needs root canal therapy. When this happens, the pulp ends up being infected, and can even extend through the root tip and start to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it has to be treated, and can not heal by itself. It can even damage the entire immune system. This is dangerous, and may be very agonizing. Symptoms that the pulp has ended up being infected might consist of sensitivity to hot/cold or sugary foods, discomfort, swelling, discomfort to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. Often, however, no signs are apparent and the person is unaware of any problem till a checkup.

A root canal is then carried out to clean out the infected tooth pulp, and decontaminate the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to remove the tooth. As soon as the infection is fixed, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any additional infection. Generally a core build-up and crown is suggested for bring back a tooth that has had root canal therapy.
