Porcelain Tooth Veneers
Veneers are a very thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a stunning and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the ideal option in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to many dental restorations, veneers may at some point need replacement; however, they are still extremely long lasting and will last many years, giving you a long lasting, beautiful smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is positioned over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique normally involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is normally referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy typically involves two visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental laboratory. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a short-term covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab produced veneers are normally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is usually less unpleasant. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care directions for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will help in the life of your new and stunning veneers.
