Tooth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a very thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a gorgeous and appealing smile.
Veneers can entirely improve your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with the majority of dental restorations, veneers may someday need replacement; however, they are still extremely resilient and will last multiple years, providing you a long lasting, beautiful smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is positioned over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are normally only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct method generally involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is normally referred to as bonding.
The indirect method usually involves 2 visits because the veneers will be made at a dental laboratory. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab made veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the procedure is typically less unpleasant. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care guidelines for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will help in the life of your new and gorgeous veneers.
