Normally, getting a crown for a broken or degrading tooth is a long procedure that involves several steps and potentially several days of wait time before you get your new tooth.

A same day crown makes it possible for you to walk in to see a dental practitioner and leave with your new tooth already in place. If you have a dental practitioner offering same day crowns and are anticipating your appointment, it is likely that you will have some questions about the procedure.

Here are a few of the greatest questions about same day crowns and the answers you will wish to know.

How is a same day crown any different from any other dental crown?

The reality is, there is not a great deal of difference while doing so to get a same day crown.

The only difference is that you will not be sent home to await your long-term crown to be produced by a dental laboratory, as the crown will be made in the dental office while you are there.

This eliminated the lengthy procedure of being fitted with a short-term crown and then later on refitted with the long-term crown when it is complete.

How is it possible for a dental practitioner to develop a long-term crown during your appointment?

With advancements in dental technology, if a dental practitioner has the ideal equipment in the office, together with the best ability, they can create the brand-new tooth from a strong piece of ceramic while you wait. This happens using a device that takes the direct measurement of the mouth and existing teeth and transforms it into an actual prosthetic from the ceramic using precise computer technology.

Besides the evident advantage of less time to complete, what are the benefits of same day crowns?

Same day crowns enables you to skip the whole step of a short-term crown, which can be a pain to take care of and may be prone to dislodging with simple oral health, such as flossing and brushing.

Because whole steps are eliminated from the crowning procedure, such as numerous dental visits, you might even save some money to have a new same day crown put on.

To walk into a dental practitioner office and walk out with a brand-new crown in one visit is an ideal and rational option for patients who require help with a damaged tooth.

Speak with your dental practitioner for more details about same day crowns.

Today Were Talking About:

TMJ (Temporal-Mandibular Joint)

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint may be triggered by a misalignment of the teeth, injury, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and 5 muscles are involved in the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can trigger:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, sometimes extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Often a plastic mouth piece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the problem. If untreated and required to extremes, surgery might be needed to repair a severely damaged joint.
