What Are Same Day Dental Crowns?

Same day crowns are a brand-new technology that a dentist can financially restore damaged teeth in a single consultation using a high-quality ceramic product that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How Does It Work?

Same day crowns use a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) innovation, incorporating a camera, computer and a milling device in one instrument. The dental practitioner uses a special camera to take an precise picture of the broken tooth. This optical impression is downloaded and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dental practitioner uses CAD technology to design the restoration. Then CAM takes over and immediately develops the restoration while the patient waits. Finally, the dentist bonds the new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The whole procedure takes about one hour.

What Does This Technology Mean For A Client?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, compatible with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dentists no longer need to produce temporaries or take impressions and send them to a lab. Because of this, the traditional second appointment has been eliminated. This new technology has more than 10 years of scientific research and documents to support it. The restorations have been proven precise, safe and reliable.

The Topic Of The Day Will Be:

Dental Implants

A dental implant is a metal device created to replace missing teeth. The device is generally constructed of titanium and is surgically placed into the jawbone where the teeth are missing. An implant is permanent, unlike a dental bridge.

Crowns and conventional bridges or dentures might not be your only options when replacing missing teeth. For some individuals, dental implants provide a smile that looks extremely natural. Surgically placed below the gums over a series of appointments, implants fuse to the jawbone and act as a base for bridges or a denture, individual replacement teeth.

Implants offer stability since they connect to your bone, a procedure called osseointegration. Integration of these implants into your jaw also helps your replacement teeth feel more natural and some individuals also find the secure fit is more comfy than conventional alternatives. Candidates for dental implants should have healthy gums and adequate bone to support the implant.

What's Involved In Having A Dental Implant?

A dental implant might be an option to replace a missing tooth. In this procedure, a little titanium shaft is surgically {placed|implanted into the bone and allowed to set. The bone grows around it forming a tight connection, which in addition slows or stops the bone loss that happens when the root of a natural tooth is missing. When the implant is securely set in the mouth, the dental practitioner then works to attach the replacement tooth onto the top of the shaft. This permanent solution has the advantages over bridge work that it does not need the surrounding teeth for support, and, should the tooth break, another can merely be replaced on the shaft.

Implants can also be used as support as part of an implant bridge. This is an alternative to partial dentures, and has multiple benefits. First, there is no modification period to acclimatize the patient who, once the work is done, only feels teeth, not metal supports intruding into the mouth. Second, this slows the bone loss occasioned by missing teeth. Third, there is no pain or problem in eating. And, best of all, of course, they do not need to be taken out all the time.
