Why Choose Single Visit Dental Crowns?

There are many benefits of same day crowns over traditional crown technology.

  • Time: Same day crowns are made in one visit, saving you substantial time away from your job and family.

  • Convenience: With same day crowns, there is no requirement for a temporary crown, which eliminates significant potential pain and inconvenience of a lost short-term restoration. Only one visit means only one injection, or no injections if the tooth was formerly treated with a root canal. No conventional impressions resulting in no gagging.

  • Aesthetic appeals: The strong, tooth-colored ceramic materials of this new innovation restores your teeth to their natural durability, charm, and function and carefully match the composition of natural tooth structure.

  • Strength: Milled ceramic is stronger than the traditional technique of layering and pressing, so your smile will stay beautiful for multiple years!

  • Fillings: Same day crown material and technology can also be used for fillings. Because they are made out of porcelain, they are more long lasting than white composite fillings. They are much more aesthetic than mercury containing silver fillings and tougher because of bonding innovation.

Dental Crowns

A crown (or cap) is a covering that encases the entire tooth surface restoring it to its original shape and size. A crown protects and strengthens the tooth structure giving the tooth a longer life span than it would have if recovered by fillings or other types of restorations.

Crowns are full coverage restorations that are used to cover a tooth that is most likely to break, or is too broken down to be recovered with a filling. They are most frequently done after root canal treatments, or when a huge filling wears out. The larger the hole made by a cavity that has to be treated, the more likely a crown will be required. Even after a filling is put in a large cavity, a tooth is more likely to break. Bear in mind that the jaw muscles are the strongest in the body. Teeth go through tremendous pressures. Crowns sit over the weakened tooth, offering strength and protecting the tooth against damage. A broken or split tooth is a much more serious matter and a lot more hard to treat. Crowns prevent this, in addition to producing a nice smile.

It takes 2 appointments to recover a tooth with a crown. In the first visit any decay is removed from the tooth and it is shaped to accept the crown. Then an impression is made of the tooth for use in making a crown. Between the two visits the crown is made, normally of high-strength porcelain over gold alloy, all ceramic material, or gold. A short-term crown is worn throughout this time. In the 2nd visit this short-term crown is removed. Then the {permanent crown is adjusted as needed and after that cemented in place.

Exactly What Does Getting A Crown Involve?

A crown procedure usually needs 2 appointments. Your first appointment will include taking impressions that will be utilized to create your customized crown. A mold will also be utilized to produce a short-term crown which will remain on your tooth for approximately 2 weeks until your new crown is made by a dental lab.

While the tooth is numb, the dentist will prepare the tooth by eliminating any decay and forming the surface area to appropriately fit the crown. As soon as these details are accomplished, your temporary crown will be placed with short-term cement and your bite will be examined to ensure you are biting correctly.

At your second appointment your temporary crown will be removed, the tooth will be cleaned, and your new crown will be carefully placed to make sure the spacing and bite are precise.

You will be given care instructions and encouraged to have regular dental check ups to inspect your crown. As always, appropriate oral hygiene will help extend the life of your brand-new crown.
