What Is A Dental Crown?

A crown is a cap made to cover a tooth with the function of restoring it to its natural shapes and size or to enhance its look. To prepare for the crown, dental practitioners drill to remove the decayed section and also form the tooth to get ready for the crown for that part which lies around and above the gum line.

The Discussion Of The Day Will Be:

Tooth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the number one aesthetic concern of many patients, there are multiple ways to lighten teeth. The most popular method is using a home tooth whitening system that will lighten teeth significantly. Because tooth bleaching only works on natural tooth enamel, it is necessary to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, and so on. Replacement of any restorations will be done after lightening so they will match the recently bleached teeth.

Most dentists utilize multiple methods: customizeded tray whitening, professional strength white strips, and in-office whitening.

The tray technique involves having impressions taken, which the laboratory fabricates into custom vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is placed in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The whole procedure takes about a week of daily use. Three different strengths of gel might be utilized, however, the higher the strength, the higher the probability of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray technique is suggested for badly stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it might take a number of months of use to see substantial color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a very fast and practical lightening process. The visit is around one hour including both the preparation and treatment. Our clients enjoy this treatment since it is so easy and quick!

Tooth lightening is not permanent. A touch-up might be needed once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For upkeep of whitened teeth the trays need to be used every couple of months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of external tooth layer.

  • Florousis (extreme fluoridation during tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, and so on).
