What Is So Special About Same Day Crowns?

In a normal dental practice, getting dental crowns is a long and typically an uncomfortable procedure that can take several weeks to finish. However, our practice uses same day crown innovation, which allows us to scan, design, and mill stunning tooth-colored crowns in one day.

Envision coming into our dental office to receive a crown and leaving the same day with a strong, resilient, and visually pleasing crown already in place. Call us today for more information!

The Same Day Crown Process

Throughout your appointment, you and your dental practitioner will discuss the information of the procedure and your dental practitioner will address any concerns you may have. Your dentist will then apply a thin layer of reflective powder onto your tooth and will use a special 3D imaging camera to take a photo of your tooth. Using the new software, your restoration will be developed according to your tooth's appropriate form and function.

Then, the mill will use diamond burs to create your restoration out of a piece of ceramic. Finally, the ceramic restoration is bonded to your tooth using cutting edge adhesive dentistry.

Same Day Teeth Restorations

CEREC means CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take exact digital imagery of areas requiring restoration and produce the proper restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration finished in simply one visit. We will design and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer milling unit right in the office. You no longer need to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the lab to make your crown.

CEREC can be used in a wide scope of indications: posterior crowns, anterior crowns, veneers, inlays, onlays and partial crowns.

The Discussion Of The Day Is:

Temporal Mandibular Joint

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint might be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and 5 muscles are associated with the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble or soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, often extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces in between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Sometimes a plastic mouth piece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the issue. If unattended and taken to extremes, surgery may be needed to fix a terribly damaged joint.
