Single Visit Crowns And Teeth Restorations

Do you have to get a dental crown? Or will you quickly be requiring a dental procedure that will cause you to require a dental crown? If so, you might be starting to dread the time you will need to spend at the dentist's office. At our dental practice, we provide a great time-saving solution for you. We offer same day crowns at our practice!

At our practice we are proud to have professional and highly-trained dentists on staff. At our dental practice we integrate state-of-the-art innovations and procedures to supply our clients with the best restorative, precautionary, implant, and cosmetic dentistry care. For clients who need to get dental crowns, we are very delighted to be able to offer same day crowns.

Crowns and caps are 2 different names for the same thing. A dental crown is a restoration that is typically made from porcelain. It is a strong structure that is used to cover a tooth on all four sides to help strengthen the tooth and improve its function.

Crowns can also be used to connect bridges, as the top portion of a dental implant, or to prevent a broken tooth from becoming weaker. Crowns can also be used to reinforce a tooth after a root canal procedure.

Crowns are also used for purely visual reasons, such as to cover a significantly tarnished tooth that needs to be restored to its initial, attractive appearance.

Normally getting a dental crown is a prolonged treatment. The dentist will need to take impressions, offer you with a short-term crown, wait for the crown to be returned from a laboratory, and after that have you come back to the office so that it can be permanently connected. Today at our practice patients can get same day crowns in about 2 hours.

Our same day crowns are created in our practice thanks to our CAD-CAM technology.

CAD-CAM means "computer-aided-design-computer-aided-manufacture." Computers are used to take photos which are then computer-analyzed and used to create a crown.

This crown is really milled by a computer in our office. The crown will fit your mouth precisely and get rid of any need to send impressions or photos to an outside laboratory.

All this is done while you wait, eliminating the need to return for a second visit.

You also will not need to get a short-term crown, since our long-term crown will be immediately offered to you.

If you want to meet our dental practitioner to learn more about same day crowns or to obtain a same day crown, call our office.

Today's Topic Is About:

TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint)

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint may be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and 5 muscles are associated with the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble or soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, often extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Sometimes a plastic mouth piece is utilized to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the problem. If unattended and required to extremes, surgery might be required to fix a severely damaged joint.
