Today Were Talking About:

Porcelain Teeth Veneers

Veneers are a really thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a gorgeous and attractive smile.

Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.

Similar to most dental restorations, veneers may one day need replacement; however, they are still really durable and will last multiple years, giving you a long lasting, stunning smile.

How Are Veneers Set?

Veneers are a dental treatment where a covering is positioned over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.

The direct method typically involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is typically referred to as bonding.

The indirect method typically involves two visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental lab. At the first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a short-term covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab produced veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.

The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the procedure is typically less unpleasant. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.

You will receive care directions for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will help in the life of your new and beautiful veneers.
