3 Reasons To Consider Same Day Crowns

If you've ever actually had a crown placed over one of your teeth before, you know that the procedure usually includes at least two visits to the dentist and the positioning of a temporary crown prior to you getting your permanent one.

However, there is a new procedure for getting crowns that can enable you to get a permanent crown the same day. As the name indicates, same day crown machines enables crowns to be created right there next to the dentist's chair.

Have a look at a couple of reasons same day crowns may be right for you.

Better Looking Teeth

Same day crowns are made completely of ceramic, removing the need for metal. While metal crowns are completely functional and safe, they're frequently considered less appealing than ceramic.

Ceramic crowns more closely resemble your natural enamel, making them an aesthetically preferable option, especially for highly-visible front teeth.

Same day crown machines can match the crown exactly to the shade of your natural teeth.

Saves Time And Money

Every hour you spend at the dental practitioner's office is an hour off work or away from another activity or responsibility.

Needing to return to the dental practitioner's office numerous times for one treatment may mean getting time off at work approved for more than one day, hiring a sitter for more than one day, or filling your car with gas to drive out of your way more than once in a brief time-span.

Any which way you take a look at it, several dental visits cost you cash, in addition to exactly what you're spending on the dental treatment. Getting everything done in one appointment saves time, and time is cash.

Conserves More Natural Teeth

The device used in the same day crown procedure takes a digital scan of your tooth and then is used to mill the crown on the spot, using the specific specifications provided by the digital scan.

This permits the dental practitioner to preserve as much of your natural tooth structure as possible, which is the healthiest alternative for your jaw.

This also allows the dentist to use the device to create inlays or onlays. These are partial crowns, used when you require more coverage than a filling will supply but less than a complete crown.

Thanks to the more precise digital measurements provided by the same day crown machine, teeth that might once have needed a full crown may now be candidates for only a partial crown.

If you think that one of your broken teeth will most likely require a crown, make sure to make an appointment with our dental practitioners today.

Same Day Crown Restorations

CEREC stands for CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take exact digital imagery of areas requiring restoration and produce the proper restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration completed in simply one visit. We will create and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer milling unit right in the office. You no longer need to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the laboratory to fabricate your crown.

Today's Topic Will Be:

Ultrasonic Teeth Cleaning

We use ultrasonic scalers for a lot of adult dental cleanings. These devices utilize ultrasonic vibrations to help breakdown the plaque and calculus on the teeth that trigger gingivitis and gum disease. The ultrasonic cleaners create tiny bubbles that implode on the surface of the tooth, eliminating microbes and removing plaque and tartar in the process. Our instruments use a thin tip to better navigate in the gum pockets to help keep optimal gingival health.

  • The treatment only uses water, no chemicals are used.

  • It can remove tartar buildup in hard-to-reach locations, without any damage to the tooth enamel.

  • Manual scaling often uses pressure for cleaning, while the vibration produced by the scaling tip of an ultrasonic scaler is hardly noticeable. This makes ultrasonic cleaning ideal to those with sensitive teeth.

  • The cleaning procedure is faster than manual scaling making your visit more comfortable.

After your teeth have been cleaned with the ultrasonic cleaner, your teeth will be hand scaled to look for any residual deposits and after that polished.
