HANOVER MA

Updated On Tuesday, March 26, 2019 08:22:09 AM

If you have a fractured or busted tooth, are experiencing pain when chewing or exposed to hot or cold temperatures, or wish to get rid of unattractive metal crowns or fillings, then dental crowns might be a good choice for you. Dental Crowns cover the outter surface of the affected tooth, adding sturdiness and stability to it.

Same-day dental crowns are a choice that we provide on a case by case basis to patients who would benefit from the treatment. They allow clients to come to our office and leave within a couple hours with their permanent dental crown in place that same day. This eliminates the need to have a short-term crown placed and then another appointment set up for the placement of the permanent crown.

Our Same-Day Crowns are made with our new innovation that scans the mouth to get the appropriate measurements of your tooth and surrounding teeth, and then makes your crown right there in the office. These restorations are really strong and durable and made out of the highest quality porcelain available. Sometimes, a gold crown might be advised for your posterior teeth (back teeth) if you grind or clench your teeth a lot.

Gold crowns are different from porcelain crowns, and the cost may vary between the two and you might want to discuss your budget plan too with the your dentist. Your dentist will discuss with you the kinds of crowns available and offer you a recommendation based on your particular situation.

Call us to schedule a complimentary cosmetic consultation. We look forward to meeting you.

Today's Topic Will Be About:

Teeth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the top aesthetic concern of a lot of patients, there are numerous ways to bleach teeth. The most popular method is using a home tooth whitening system that will bleach teeth significantly. Since tooth whitening just works on natural tooth enamel, it is very important to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, and so on. Replacement of any restorations will be done after whitening so they will match the recently bleached teeth.

Most dentists utilize numerous approaches: customizeded tray bleaching, professional strength white strips, and in-office whitening.

The tray approach involves having impressions taken, which the lab produces into custom vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is placed in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The entire process takes about a week of everyday use. 3 different strengths of gel may be utilized, however, the higher the strength, the higher the possibility of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray technique is suggested for terribly stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it might take multiple months of use to see considerable color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a very fast and practical lightening procedure. The appointment is around one hour including both the preparation and treatment. Our patients enjoy this treatment because it is so easy and fast!

Tooth lightening is not permanent. A touch-up may be needed once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For upkeep of whitened teeth the trays ought to be utilized every few months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of outer tooth layer.

  • Florousis (excessive fluoridation throughout tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, etc.).
