Porcelain Tooth Veneers
Veneers are a very thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a stunning and appealing smile.
Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with the majority of dental restorations, veneers might one day need replacement; however, they are still extremely resilient and will last years, providing you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is placed over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are generally only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct method typically involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is normally referred to as bonding.
The indirect method normally involves two appointments because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental laboratory. At the very first appointment the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory made veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the procedure is typically less unpleasant. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care instructions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your new and gorgeous veneers.
