If You Require A Crown This Probably Is The Best Option

Getting a crown has actually long been known to be a two-visit dental experience. Many people have no idea that this is not the case with same day crowns. For our lucky patients, getting a crown just takes one visit!

The Traditional Two Visit Way

At the very first visit, impressions are taken of the tooth and the impression is sent to a lab so that your permanent crown can be made. Lots of people dislike the goopy impression materials that can make them gag and that takes up to five minutes in their mouth to set.

Then your tooth is shaved down so that your crown can be put on top of it. Then you receive a short-term crown cemented over the shaved tooth to hold you over until your long-term crown shows up from the lab. Then later, you have to go back in to the dentist, have the short-term crown removed and the new crown put on your tooth

Today's Conversation Will Be About:

Teeth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the top aesthetic concern of the majority of patients, there are multiple methods to whiten teeth. The most popular technique is using a home tooth bleaching system that will bleach teeth considerably. Since tooth lightening only works on natural tooth enamel, it is necessary to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, and so on. Replacement of any restorations will be done after lightening so they will match the newly bleached teeth.

Most dentists utilize multiple methods: customizeded tray lightening, professional strength white strips, and in-office whitening.

The tray technique involves having impressions taken, which the lab produces into custom-made vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is put in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The entire procedure takes about a week of everyday use. Three various strengths of gel might be used, however, the greater the strength, the higher the probability of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray method is suggested for severely stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it may take numerous months of use to see considerable color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a very quick and hassle-free whitening process. The visit is roughly one hour consisting of both the preparation and treatment. Our patients love this treatment due to the fact that it is so simple and fast!

Tooth bleaching is not permanent. A touch-up might be required once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For maintenance of whitened teeth the trays should be utilized every couple of months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of outer tooth layer.

  • Florousis (excessive fluoridation during tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, etc.).
