Porcelain Veneers (Tooth)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a beautiful and appealing smile.
Veneers can completely reshape your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to the majority of dental restorations, veneers might someday need replacement; however, they are still really long lasting and will last multiple years, providing you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is positioned over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct strategy usually involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy normally involves two visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental laboratory. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a short-term covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory fabricated veneers are normally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is normally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have big fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care instructions for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will help in the life of your brand-new and lovely veneers.
