Tooth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a gorgeous and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with a lot of dental restorations, veneers might one day require replacement; however, they are still extremely resilient and will last multiple years, offering you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental treatment in which a covering is placed over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are normally only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct method generally involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect technique usually involves two appointments because the veneers will be produced at a dental laboratory. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a short-term covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab fabricated veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is generally less unpleasant. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care instructions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new and lovely veneers.
