What's So Special About Single Visit Crowns?

In a typical dental practice, receiving dental crowns is a long and typically an uncomfortable procedure that can take a number of weeks to complete. However, our practice uses same day crown innovation, which enables us to scan, design, and mill stunning tooth-colored crowns in one day.

Imagine coming into our dental office to get a crown and walking out the same day with a strong, durable, and aesthetically pleasing crown already in place. Call us today for more information!

The Same Day Crown Process

During your appointment, you and your dental practitioner will discuss the information of the procedure and your dentist will answer any questions you may have. Your dental practitioner will then use a thin layer of reflective powder onto your tooth and will use a unique 3D imaging camera to take a photo of your tooth. Using the new software, your restoration will be designed according to your tooth's appropriate form and function.

Then, the mill will use diamond burs to create your restoration from a piece of ceramic. Finally, the ceramic restoration is bonded to your tooth using state-of-the-art adhesive dentistry.

Same Day Crowns Restorations

CEREC stands for CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take precise digital images of areas requiring restoration and produce the proper restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration finished in simply one visit. We will design and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer system milling unit right in the office. The Conversation For Today Will Be:

TMJ (Temporal-Mandibular Joint)

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint may be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and 5 muscles are associated with the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble or soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, in some cases extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Sometimes a plastic mouthpiece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the issue. If neglected and required to extremes, surgery may be required to repair a badly damaged joint.
