What Is A Dental Crown?

A crown is a cap made to cover a tooth with the purpose of restoring it to its natural size and shape or to improve its appearance. To get ready for the crown, dentists drill to remove the decayed area and also form the tooth to prepare for the crown for that portion which lies around and above the gum line.

Same Day Tooth Restorations

CEREC means CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take exact digital images of locations needing restoration and produce the proper restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration completed in simply one visit. We will design and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer milling unit right in the office. You no longer have to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the laboratory to fabricate your crown.

The Topic For Today Will Be:

Dental Bonding (Composite)

Bonding is a procedure where we use a tooth-colored composite material to a tooth, shape it, allow it to solidify, and polish it. It can be used in certain situations where a tooth has actually been damaged or become stained. These are typically minor repairs, ones that can be resolved through this reasonably affordable ways rather than through a more expensive dental treatment.

Here's How It Works:
Bonding includes adhering composite resin material that is matched to the color of the tooth, to the front of the tooth. This is done to fix damage done to the tooth by decay, to change the positioning of the tooth, close gaps between the teeth, or for cosmetic purposes. First the surface area of the tooth is roughened in order to accept the bonding and hold it. A gel is applied to micro etch the tooth surface, and a primer/bond agent is applied so the material adheres to the surface. Then the material itself is positioned on the tooth and solidified with intense light. The composite resin material is formed and polished to obtain a shiny finish as a last step.
