Same day crowns are an innovative dental technology that is utilized for the restoration of decayed, cracked, or chipped teeth. This innovation can create complete crowns, onlays, inlays, and veneers. The same day crown device crafts a restoration in a matter of minutes.

Same day crown restorations are made from compressed porcelain. It is for this reason that they are more durable than lab restorations, which are layered porcelain. The most beneficial feature of receiving a same day crown restoration is that it is achieved in one appointment. In addition to the benefit of a one visit restoration, there is no uncomfortable impression product to bite on or a temporary crown to wear.

The procedure for positioning of a same day crown restoration is really simple. The initial step is to eliminate all degeneration from the tooth. The dentist will then shape the tooth in preparation to take a digital image. The tooth is then sprayed with a really fine powder. This enables the digital camera to take an acceptable image. As soon as this image is recorded, the tooth will appear on a computer screen in 3D. This will allow the dental practitioner to develop the restoration right in front of you.

As soon as the design is finished, the same day crown device will mill the restoration. This step takes roughly 15 minutes. You can actually see this procedure if you would like. When the restoration is completed milling, the dentist will put the restoration on your tooth.

Today's Topic Will Be:

Temporal-Mandibular Joint

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint may be triggered by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are associated with the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, often extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps in between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Often a plastic mouthpiece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the problem. If unattended and required to extremes, surgery may be needed to repair a terribly damaged joint.
