What Are Same Day Crowns?

Same day crowns are a brand-new innovation that a dental expert can economically restore broken teeth in a single appointment using a high-quality ceramic material that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How Does It Work?

Same day crowns use a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, incorporating a camera, computer and a milling device in one instrument. The dental practitioner uses a unique camera to take an precise photo of the broken tooth. This optical impression is downloaded and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dentist uses CAD innovation to develop the restoration. Then CAM takes over and instantly creates the restoration while the client waits. Finally, the dental practitioner bonds the brand-new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The whole procedure takes about one hour.

Exactly What Does This Innovation Mean For A Patient?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, compatible with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dental practitioners no longer have to develop temporaries or take impressions and send them to a laboratory. Because of this, the traditional 2nd visit has been removed. This new technology has more than 10 years of scientific research and documents to support it. The restorations have actually been proven accurate, safe and reliable.

A Gorgeous Smile!

A lovely smile is one of your biggest assets - a reflection of joy and good health.

The Discussion For Today Will Be:

TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint)

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint might be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, injury, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are involved in the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can trigger:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble or soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, often extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces in between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. In some cases a plastic mouth piece is utilized to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the problem. If neglected and taken to extremes, surgery might be needed to repair a terribly damaged joint.
