Why Are They Called Same Day Crowns?

This advanced technology allows your dental practitioner to take accurate images of your tooth and use those images to design, manufacture, and put a porcelain or zirconia crown in a single visit. Same day crowns provide unparalleled benefits, value, and precision to our patients.

How Does The Same Day Crown Technology Work?

The same day crown procedure consists of 3 fundamental steps. First, your dentist uses 3D imaging to take extremely precise images of your tooth and the surrounding structures. Next, they then download these images into a computer and, using computer-assisted design software, creates your custom-fitted crown. From there, your dentist will send the design to their in-office accuracy milling device which creates the crown out of a block of dental porcelain or zirconia. Once they stain and glaze the crown for extra strength and esthetics, your dentist will put it on your tooth.

What Are The Advantages Of Same Day Crowns?

We only use dental porcelain and zirconia to develop our same day crowns. These metal-free restorations provide unparalleled toughness, resilience, chip and stain resistance, and natural appeal.

Precision-fitted same day crowns require less tooth prep work and protect more of your tooth structure.

Traditional crowns require 2 office visits. With same day crowns, you can come to our dentist's office for a visit and leave with a magnificently restored tooth.

You can prevent the trouble and possible threats associated with ill-fitting short-term crowns.

Today's Discussion Is About:

TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint)

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint might be triggered by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are associated with the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can trigger:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, in some cases extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces in between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Often a plastic mouth piece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the problem. If unattended and required to extremes, surgery may be required to fix a severely damaged joint.
