If you have a fractured or busted tooth, are experiencing discomfort when chewing or exposed to hot or cold temperatures, or wish to get rid of unattractive metal crowns or fillings, then dental crowns might be a good alternative for you. Dental Crowns cover the visible surface area of the affected tooth, adding sturdiness and stability to it.

Same-day dental crowns are a choice that we provide on a case by case basis to clients who would benefit from the treatment. They allow patients to come to our office and leave within a couple hours with their final dental crown in place that same day. This gets rid of the need to have a temporary crown placed then another check-up arranged for the positioning of the final crown.

Our Same-Day Crowns are made with our brand-new technology that scans the mouth to obtain the proper measurements of your tooth and surrounding teeth, and then makes your crown right there in the office. These restorations are really strong and resilient and constructed out of the highest quality porcelain available. Sometimes, a gold crown might be recommended for your posterior teeth (back teeth) if you grind or clinch your teeth a lot.

Gold crowns are different from porcelain crowns, and the cost may differ between the two and you may want to talk about your budget plan too with the your dental practitioner. Your dental practitioner will go over with you the kinds of crowns available and give you a suggestion based on your particular scenario.

Call us to arrange a complimentary cosmetic consultation. We look forward to meeting you.

The Discussion For Today Will Be:

Dental Crowns

A crown (or cap) is a covering that covers the whole tooth surface area restoring it to its original sizes and shape. A crown protects and reinforces the tooth structure giving the tooth a longer life span than it would have if restored by fillings or other types of restorations.

Crowns are full coverage restorations that are utilized to cover a tooth that is likely to break, or is too broken down to be brought back with a filling. They are most frequently done after root canal treatments, or when a huge filling breaks. The bigger the hole made by a cavity that has to be treated, the more likely a crown will be required. Even after a filling is put in a large cavity, a tooth is most likely to break. Remember that the jaw muscles are the strongest in the body. Teeth are subjected to tremendous pressures. Crowns sit over the weakened tooth, providing strength and protecting the tooth against damage. A busted or split tooth is a much more serious matter and a lot more tough to treat. Crowns prevent this, in addition to making for a good smile.

It takes 2 visits to restore a tooth with a crown. In the very first visit any decay is eliminated from the tooth and it is formed to accept the crown. Then an impression is made of the tooth for use in making a crown. Between the two visits the crown is made, usually of high-strength porcelain over gold alloy, all ceramic product, or gold. A short-term crown is used during this time. In the 2nd visit this temporary crown is removed. Then the {permanent crown is adjusted as needed then cemented in place.

What Does Getting A Crown Include?

A crown procedure generally needs 2 appointments. Your first visit will include taking impressions that will be used to develop your customized crown. A mold will also be used to create a temporary crown which will remain on your tooth for roughly two weeks until your brand-new crown is fabricated by a dental lab.

While the tooth is numb, the dentist will prepare the tooth by getting rid of any decay and shaping the surface area to appropriately fit the crown. When these details are accomplished, your short-term crown will be placed with temporary cement and your bite will be inspected to ensure you are biting properly.

At your 2nd visit your short-term crown will be removed, the tooth will be cleaned, and your new crown will be thoroughly positioned to ensure the spacing and bite are precise.

You will be given care directions and encouraged to have regular dental visits to inspect your crown. As always, appropriate oral hygiene will help extend the life of your new crown.
