This will save you from an extra visit to our practice, a week or two later. We're sure you have far more interesting things you would rather do with your time than to sit in our dentist's chair any longer than you need to!

Using our new system, we scan the prepared tooth in your mouth or from an impression, then send out the info to our in-office milling station. The restoration is computer-milled to the precise specifications to fit your mouth in minutes. When the crown is crated, we position it in your mouth, and color, polish and restore your brand-new tooth to a stunning and natural-looking appeal. The Topic Of The Day Is:

Dental Implants

A dental implant is a metal device designed to replace missing teeth. The device is usually made out of titanium and is surgically put into the jawbone where the tooth is missing. An implant is permanent, unlike a dental bridge.

Crowns and traditional bridges or dentures may not be your only options when replacing missing teeth. For some individuals, dental implants provide a smile that feels and look very natural. Surgically positioned below the gums over a series of visits, implants connect to the jawbone and function as a base for bridges or a denture, individual replacement teeth.

Implants provide stability due to the fact that they fuse to your bone, a procedure called osseointegration. Integration of these implants into your jaw also helps your replacement teeth feel more natural and some individuals also find the secure fit is more comfy than traditional alternatives. Candidates for dental implants have to have healthy gums and adequate bone to support the implant.

How Involving Is A Dental Implant?

A dental implant might be an option to replace a missing tooth. In this treatment, a little titanium shaft is surgically {placed|implanted into the bone and allowed to set. The bone grows around it forming a tight connection, which in addition slows or stops the bone loss that occurs when the root of a natural tooth is missing. Once the implant is securely embeded in the mouth, the dental practitioner then works to connect the replacement tooth onto the top of the shaft. This permanent solution has the advantages over bridge work that it does not need the surrounding teeth for support, and, should the tooth wear out, another can simply be replaced on the shaft.

Implants can also be utilized as support as part of an implant bridge. This is an alternative to partial dentures, and has a number of advantages. First, there is no adjustment period to acclimatize the patient who, once the work is done, only feels teeth, not metal supports intruding into the mouth. Second, this slows the bone loss occasioned by missing teeth. Third, there is no discomfort or difficulty in eating. And, best of all, of course, they do not have to be taken out all the time.
