What Are Single Visit Dental Crowns?

Same day crowns are a new technology that a dental practitioner can financially bring back broken teeth in a single consultation using a premium ceramic product that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How Does It Work?

Same day crowns use a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) innovation, incorporating a camera, computer and a milling device in one instrument. The dentist uses a unique camera to take an accurate image of the broken tooth. This optical impression is transferred and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dental practitioner uses CAD innovation to design the restoration. Then CAM takes over and immediately creates the restoration while the client waits. Finally, the dentist bonds the new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The entire procedure takes about one hour.

What Does This Innovation Mean For A Patient?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, compatible with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dentists no longer need to develop temporaries or take impressions and send them to a laboratory. Because of this, the standard 2nd appointment has actually been eliminated. This brand-new innovation has more than 10 years of scientific research and documentation to support it. The restorations have actually been proven accurate, safe and effective.

Today's Discussion Will Be About:

Composite Dental Bonding

Bonding is a treatment in which we use a tooth-colored composite product to a tooth, shape it, allow it to solidify, and polish it. It can be utilized in specific circumstances where a tooth has actually been broken or become stained. These are usually minor repairs, ones that can be resolved through this relatively affordable ways rather than through a more expensive dental treatment.

Here's How It Works:
Bonding involves adhering composite resin material that is matched to the color of the tooth, to the front of the tooth. This is done to repair damage done to the tooth by decay, to alter the positioning of the tooth, close gaps in between the teeth, or for cosmetic purposes. First the surface area of the tooth is roughed up in order to accept the bonding and hold it. A gel is applied to micro etch the tooth surface area, and a primer/bond agent is used so the material adheres to the surface area. Then the material itself is positioned on the tooth and hardened with intense light. The composite resin material is shaped and polished to get a glossy finish as a last step.
