What Are Same Day Crowns?

Same day crowns are a brand-new technology that a dental expert can financially bring back damaged teeth in a single consultation using a top quality ceramic material that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How Does It Work?

Same day crowns use a CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) innovation, incorporating a camera, computer and a milling device in one instrument. The dentist uses a special camera to take an accurate image of the broken tooth. This optical impression is transferred and shown on a color computer screen, where the dental practitioner uses CAD technology to design the restoration. Then CAM takes over and automatically develops the restoration while the patient waits. Finally, the dentist bonds the brand-new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The entire process takes about one hour.

What Does This Technology Mean For A Client?

A tooth-colored restoration means no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, suitable with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant. Dental practitioners no longer need to create temporaries or take impressions and send them to a lab. Because of this, the traditional 2nd appointment has been removed. This new innovation has over 10 years of clinical research and documents to support it. The restorations have actually been proven accurate, safe and reliable.

The Topic Of The Day Will Be:

Teeth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the number one aesthetic concern of the majority of patients, there are a number of ways to lighten teeth. The most popular method is using a home tooth bleaching system that will lighten teeth considerably. Because tooth lightening just works on natural tooth enamel, it is very important to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, and so on. Replacement of any restorations will be done after whitening so they will match the freshly bleached teeth.

Most dentists utilize multiple methods: custom made tray lightening, professional strength white strips, and in-office whitening.

The tray technique involves having impressions taken, which the lab produces into custom-made vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is placed in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The entire process takes about a week of daily use. Three different strengths of gel might be used, however, the higher the strength, the higher the probability of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray technique is suggested for terribly stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it may take a number of months of use to see significant color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a extremely quick and convenient lightening process. The visit is around one hour consisting of both the preparation and treatment. Our clients love this treatment since it is so simple and quick!

Tooth lightening is not permanent. A touch-up may be required once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For upkeep of whitened teeth the trays must be used every few months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of external tooth layer.

  • Florousis (excessive fluoridation throughout tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, etc.).
