Too busy for the routine 2 dental visit crown?

Technology today is changing our everyday lives. Many individuals, however, aren't aware that innovation also is affecting dentistry in brand-new and interesting methods.

Cutting-edge developments in dental instruments are requiring less time in the dental chair, causing less discomfort and producing gratifying outcomes.

One breakthrough instrument, called same day crowns, permits dentists to quickly restore damaged teeth with natural-colored ceramic fillings, saving patients time and trouble.

What are Same Day Crowns?

Same day crowns, mean that a dental practitioner can quickly fix damaged teeth in a single appointment using a high-quality ceramic product that matches the natural color of other teeth.

How does it work?

Same day crowns use CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, incorporating a camera, computer, and milling machine in one instrument.

The dental practitioner uses a unique camera to take a precise picture of the damaged tooth. This optical impression is transferred and displayed on a color computer screen, where the dentist uses CAD technology to create the restoration. The CAM takes over and immediately produces the restoration while the patient waits.

Finally, the dentist bonds the brand-new restoration to the surface area of the old tooth. The whole process takes about 2 hours.

Exactly what does this innovation do for a client?

A tooth-colored restoration indicates no more silver fillings discoloring smiles. The filling is natural-looking, suitable with tissue in the mouth, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant.

Dentists no longer have to create temporaries or take impressions and send them to a lab. Because of this, the traditional 2nd visit has been eliminated.

Same day crowns have twenty years of clinical research study and documentation to promote the technology. The restorations have been shown accurate, safe and effective.

How can I discover if this is an option for me?

Today's Topic Will Be:

Temporal-Mandibular Joint

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint might be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are involved in the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can trigger:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, sometimes extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces in between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Often a plastic mouth piece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the issue. If untreated and required to extremes, surgery may be required to repair a terribly damaged joint.
