What's So Great About Single Visit Dental Crowns?

In a typical dental practice, getting dental crowns is a long and frequently an uncomfortable process that can take multiple weeks to complete. However, our practice uses same day crown technology, which enables us to scan, design, and mill gorgeous tooth-colored crowns in one day.

Envision entering our dental office to receive a crown and walking out the same day with a strong, durable, and visually pleasing crown already in place. Call us today for more information!

More About The Single Visit Crown Process

During your appointment, you and your dentist will discuss the information of the treatment and your dentist will answer any questions you might have. Your dental practitioner will then use a thin layer of reflective powder onto your tooth and will use a special 3D imaging camera to take a picture of your tooth. Using the new software, your restoration will be created according to your tooth's proper form and function.

Then, the mill will use diamond burs to produce your restoration from a piece of ceramic. Lastly, the ceramic restoration is bonded to your tooth using cutting edge adhesive dentistry.

Today's Topic Will Be:

TMJ (Temporal Mandibular Joint)

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint may be brought on by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are involved in the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Trouble or soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, in some cases extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling gaps between teeth, and so on. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. In some cases a plastic mouthpiece is utilized to prevent clenching or grinding that is contributing to the problem. If neglected and taken to extremes, surgery may be needed to repair a terribly damaged joint.
