What Are The Advantages Of Same Day Crowns?

There are a number of benefits to having treatment with same day crowns over traditional, laboratory-made restorations.

  • Everything is performed in a single visit, you only need to see the dentist once, take one day from your schedule to have the treatment, instead of the usual 2 or three visits.

  • Only one anesthetic injections, since the whole procedure can be carried out within an hour you just have to have one injection.

  • Your dentist remains in complete control of the final result, because the crown or inlay are designed and produced from start to finish by your dentist, they have overall control over how it will look and fit.

  • No temporary restorations, which can frequently fall off between visits if they are not cared for correctly.

Today's Discussion Will Be About:

Endodontic Treatment (Root Canal)

Root canal treatment (also referred to as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is necessary when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and identify issues early). In some cases deep restorations or trauma to a tooth might also trigger the nerve to be harmed to the point it requires root canal therapy. When this takes place, the pulp ends up being infected, and can even extend through the root tip and begin to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it needs to be treated, and can not recover by itself. It can even damage the entire immune system. This is dangerous, and may be extremely unpleasant. Symptoms that the pulp has ended up being infected might consist of sensitivity to hot/cold or sweets, pain, swelling, discomfort to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. In some cases, however, no symptoms appear and the person is unaware of any problem up until a checkup.

A root canal is then carried out to clear out the infected tooth pulp, and sanitize the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to remove the tooth. When the infection is resolved, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any more infection. Generally a core build-up and crown is recommended for recovering a tooth that has actually had root canal treatment.
