Teeth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a lovely and appealing smile.
Veneers can entirely improve your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Just like most dental restorations, veneers may someday require replacement; however, they are still very durable and will last years, giving you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is put over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or smiling. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct method usually involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy normally involves 2 visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental lab. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab fabricated veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the procedure is normally less unpleasant. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care guidelines for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your new and stunning veneers.
