Porcelain Veneers (Teeth)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a gorgeous and attractive smile.
Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
As with the majority of dental restorations, veneers may someday require replacement; however, they are still very durable and will last years, offering you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental treatment where a covering is put over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are normally only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or smiling. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique usually involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect technique normally involves 2 visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental laboratory. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a short-term covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab produced veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is generally less unpleasant. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care instructions for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your new and lovely veneers.
