If you have a fractured or busted tooth, are experiencing pain when chewing or exposed to hot or cold temperature levels, or want to get rid of unattractive metal crowns or fillings, then dental crowns might be a good option for you. Dental Crowns cover the outter surface of the affected tooth, adding sturdiness and stability to it.

Same-day dental crowns are an option that we provide on a case by case basis to clients who would benefit from the treatment. They enable clients to come to our office and leave within a couple hours with their final dental crown in place that same day. This removes the need to have a temporary crown placed then another visit arranged for the placement of the permanent crown.

Our Same-Day Crowns are made with our new innovation that scans the mouth to obtain the appropriate measurements of your tooth and surrounding teeth, then makes your crown right there in the office. These restorations are very strong and resilient and made out of the highest quality porcelain available. In some cases, a gold crown might be suggested for your posterior teeth (back teeth) if you grind or clench your teeth a lot.

Gold crowns are different from porcelain crowns, and the expense may vary between the two and you might want to talk about your budget plan too with the your dental practitioner. Your dental practitioner will discuss with you the kinds of crowns available and give you a recommendation based upon your specific situation.

Call us to arrange a complimentary cosmetic consultation. We look forward to meeting you.

Today's Discussion Is About:

Gum Disease (Periodontal Disease)

Gum disease is an infection of the tissues that surround and support your teeth. Since gum disease is usually painless, you may not know you have it. Also called periodontal disease, gum disease is caused by plaque, the sticky film of germs that is constantly forming on our teeth.

Some warning signs that can signal an issue:

  • gums that bleed too quickly.

  • red, swollen, sore gums.

  • gums that have actually pulled away from the teeth.

  • persistent foul breath or bad taste.

  • permanent teeth that are separating or loose.

  • any change in the way your teeth fit together when you bite.

  • any change in the fit of partial dentures.

There are many factors that enhance the danger of developing gum disease including smoking cigarettes, pregnancy, and diabetes. It is important to visit your dentist if you believe you have gum disease because the quicker you treat it the better.

The early stage of periodontal disease is called gingivitis. If you have gingivitis, your gums may become red, swollen and bleed easily. At this phase, the disease is still reversible and can generally be removed by a professional cleaning at your dental office, followed by daily flossing and brushing.

Advanced gum disease is called periodontitis. Chronic periodontitis can result in the loss of bone and tissue that support the teeth and it might become more extreme in time. If it does, your teeth will feel loose and begin moving around in your mouth. It typically worsens slowly, however there can be periods of fast progression.

Aggressive periodontitis is a highly damaging form of gum disease that takes place in patients who are otherwise healthy. Common features consist of rapid loss of bone and tissue and may happen in some areas of the mouth, or in the entire mouth.

Research in between systemic diseases and gum diseases is ongoing. While a link is not conclusive, some research studies indicate that severe periodontal disease may be associated with numerous other health conditions such as stroke or diabetes.

Routine dental appointments and gum examinations are essential. The treatment methods that most dental professionals diagnose will rely on the kind of disease and how far the condition has actually advanced. Great dental care at home is vital to help keep periodontal disease from becoming more serious or recurring.
