Three Reasons To Get Same Day Crowns

If you've ever actually had a crown positioned over one of your teeth in the past, you understand that the procedure usually includes at least two visits to the dental practitioner and the positioning of a short-term crown prior to you getting your long-term one.

However, there is a new procedure for installing crowns that can enable you to obtain a permanent crown the same day. As the name suggests, same day crown devices allow crowns to be created right there close to the dentist's chair.

Take a look at a couple of reasons why same day crowns may be right for you.

Natural Looking Teeth

Same day crowns are made completely of ceramic, getting rid of the requirement for metal. While metal crowns are perfectly practical and safe, they're often considered less appealing than ceramic.

Ceramic crowns more closely resemble your natural enamel, making them an visually preferable alternative, especially for highly-visible front teeth.

Same day crown devices can match the crown exactly to the shade of your natural teeth.

Saves Money And Time

Every hour you spend at the dentist's office is an hour off work or away from another activity or obligation.

Having to go back to the dentist's office several times for one procedure may mean getting time off at work authorized for more than one day, hiring a sitter for more than one day, or filling your automobile with gas to drive out of your way more than once in a brief time-span.

Any which way you take a look at it, multiple dental visits cost you money, in addition to what you're spending on the dental procedure. Getting everything performed in one visit saves time, and time is money.

Saves More Natural Teeth

The machine used in the same day crown treatment takes a digital scan of your tooth and then is used to mill the crown on the spot, using the specific specs provided by the digital scan.

This allows the dental practitioner to maintain as much of your natural tooth structure as possible, which is the healthiest choice for your jaw.

This also allows the dental practitioner to use the device to create inlays or onlays. These are partial crowns, used when you need more protection than a filling will provide but less than a complete crown.

Thanks to the more accurate digital measurements provided by the same day crown machine, teeth that may once have actually needed a complete crown might now be candidates for just a partial crown.

If you know that one of your broken teeth will probably require a crown, be sure to make an appointment with our dentists today.

Today's Topic Will Be:

Teeth Whitening

Because having whiter teeth has now become the top aesthetic concern of the majority of clients, there are a number of methods to whiten teeth. The most popular method is utilizing a home tooth bleaching system that will whiten teeth considerably. Because tooth whitening only works on natural tooth enamel, it is necessary to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, etc. Replacement of any restorations will be done after whitening so they will match the freshly bleached teeth.

Most dentists utilize a number of approaches: custom made tray lightening, professional strength white strips, and in-office whitening.

The tray technique involves having impressions taken, which the lab makes into customized vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is placed in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The whole process takes about a week of day-to-day use. Three various strengths of gel may be utilized, however, the higher the strength, the higher the likelihood of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray technique is advised for badly stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it may take numerous months of use to see substantial color improvement.

Our in-office treatment is a really quick and practical bleaching process. The visit is approximately one hour consisting of both the preparation and treatment. Our patients enjoy this treatment due to the fact that it is so simple and quick!

Tooth lightening is not permanent. A touch-up may be needed once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For maintenance of whitened teeth the trays should be utilized every couple of months.

Reasons For Tooth Whitening:

  • Yellow, brown stained teeth.

  • Normal wear of outer tooth layer.

  • Florousis (excessive fluoridation during tooth development).

  • Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, and so on).
