PERMANENT CROWNS

Updated On Sunday, June 24, 2018 02:38:48 PM

If you have a fractured or broken tooth, are experiencing discomfort when chewing or exposed to hot or cold temperature levels, or want to eliminate unsightly metal crowns or fillings, then dental crowns might be a great choice for you. Dental Crowns cover the outter surface of the affected tooth, adding toughness and stability to it.

Same-day dental crowns are an option that we offer on a case by case basis to patients who would benefit from the procedure. They enable patients to come to our office and leave within a couple hours with their permanent dental crown in place that same day. This removes the need to have a short-term crown placed then another appointment set up for the positioning of the final crown.

Our Same-Day Crowns are made with our brand-new technology that scans the mouth to obtain the appropriate measurements of your tooth and surrounding teeth, then makes your crown right there in the office. These restorations are extremely strong and durable and constructed out of the highest quality porcelain available. In many cases, a gold crown might be recommended for your posterior teeth (back teeth) if you grind or clinch your teeth a lot.

Gold crowns are different from porcelain crowns, and the expense may differ between the two and you may want to talk about your budget too with the your dental practitioner. Your dental practitioner will go over with you the kinds of crowns available and give you a suggestion based upon your specific scenario.

Call us to schedule a complimentary cosmetic consultation. We look forward to meeting you.

The Discussion Of The Day Is:

Root Canal (Endodontic Treatment)

Root canal treatment (also referred to as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is essential when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and detect issues early). In some cases deep restorations or trauma to a tooth may also cause the nerve to be damaged to the point it needs root canal treatment. As soon as this happens, the pulp ends up being infected, and can even extend through the root tip and start to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it needs to be treated, and can not heal on its own. It can even weaken the whole immune system. This is dangerous, and might be extremely agonizing. Symptoms that the pulp has actually become infected may consist of sensitivity to hot/cold or sweets, discomfort, swelling, discomfort to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. Often, however, no symptoms are apparent and the person is unaware of any problem till a checkup.

A root canal is then carried out to clear out the infected tooth pulp, and sanitize the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to extract the tooth. Once the infection is dealt with, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any more infection. Normally a core build-up and crown is suggested for bring back a tooth that has had root canal treatment.
