At our dental practice we do same day crowns. You may be asking, exactly what are same day crowns and exactly what can it do for me?

It is a 3D system that lets us make porcelain crowns and inlays all in one appointment. We have now been using this technology for multiple years and like it more than ever.

Same day crowns are an in-surgery computer system that enables us to replace damaged or missing tooth structures with a ceramic material that's as close to a natural tooth as is possible.

This is done while you remain in the practice, in simply one appointment. All ceramic porcelain inlays and onlays, veneers and crowns that look and feel like natural teeth can be made and placed in a single appointment, typically in about an hour.

So what is the procedure?

We scan the opposite teeth and the way the teeth bite together first. We remove the old filling, and decay and any thin weak tooth product and scan the prepared tooth.

After this we quit working in the mouth and start working on the computer.

Everyone likes seeing the pictures of their teeth and the designing of their new tooth. We make 3D design and this info is sent to the milling system.

Everybody asks if this is like 3D printing and yes it is, but the tooth isn't developed layer by layer, it is cut back from a block in the device, which is much more durable.

The block is then precisely sculpted to produce your brand-new restoration, which is wonderful.

At last, the custom made crown restoration bonded flawlessly into the tooth, strengthening and sealing it at the same time then we clean up!

We need to make sure that you can bite properly, that its smooth and that you can floss.

Same Day Teeth Restorations

CEREC stands for CERamic REConstruction and is a tool in our office that can take accurate digital imagery of areas needing restoration and produce the suitable restoration on the spot.

With our CEREC cad/cam machine, you can have your crown or other restoration completed in just one visit. We will design and custom fit your tooth precisely with our computer system milling unit right in the office. You no longer have to have a temporary crown or wait weeks for the lab to produce your crown.

CEREC can be utilized for a wide range of indications: veneers, inlays, onlays, partial crowns, posterior crowns and anterior crowns.

Today's Conversation Has To Do With:

TMJ (Temporal-Mandibular Joint)

TMJ means temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Issues in this joint may be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, injury, or excess muscle tension. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and five muscles are associated with the area. If something goes wrong a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can trigger:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, often extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can include replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces in between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Often a plastic mouth piece is utilized to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the issue. If unattended and taken to extremes, surgery may be needed to fix a badly damaged joint.
