Because having whiter teeth has now become the top aesthetic concern of the majority of patients, there are multiple methods to lighten teeth. The most popular technique is using a home tooth bleaching system that will lighten teeth considerably. Because tooth bleaching only works on natural tooth enamel, it is necessary to evaluate replacement of any old fillings, crowns, and so on. Replacement of any restorations will be done after bleaching so they will match the freshly bleached teeth.
Most dentists utilize a number of techniques: customizeded tray bleaching, professional strength white strips, and in-office bleaching.
The tray technique involves having impressions taken, which the laboratory produces into custom vinyl trays. A carbamide peroxide gel is placed in these trays and the trays with gel are worn for about 30 minutes to a full hour. The entire procedure takes about a week of day-to-day use. Three different strengths of gel might be utilized, however, the greater the strength, the greater the probability of reactions or tooth sensitivity. The tray approach is recommended for badly stained teeth, such as tetracycline staining, and it may take multiple months of use to see significant color improvement.
Our in-office treatment is a extremely quick and hassle-free whitening process. The appointment is around one hour consisting of both the preparation and treatment. Our clients enjoy this treatment because it is so simple and quick!
Tooth lightening is not permanent. A touch-up may be required once a year and more often if you smoke and/or drink coffee, tea, or wine. For upkeep of whitened teeth the trays need to be utilized every couple of months.
Reasons For Tooth Whitening:
- Yellow, brown stained teeth.
- Normal wear of outer tooth layer.
- Florousis (extreme fluoridation throughout tooth development).
- Stained teeth due to medications (tetracycline, and so on).
