Porcelain Veneers (Teeth)
Veneers are a very thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a stunning and appealing smile.
Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to the majority of dental restorations, veneers may at some point need replacement; however, they are still very durable and will last many years, offering you a long lasting, gorgeous smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental treatment in which a covering is placed over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are normally only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique typically involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is normally referred to as bonding.
The indirect method generally involves two visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental laboratory. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are given a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab made veneers are normally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is normally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care directions for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and gorgeous veneers.
