We always remain on the cutting-edge for our valued patients!

What Are Single Day Crowns?

It is a technology for fixing damaged teeth, and this restoration can be completed in a single visit to our office. It makes your teeth stronger and more lovely - all while keeping your teeth looking natural. The restoration is metal-free and the state-of-the-art ceramic material and is compatible with the natural tissue found in your mouth.

Throughout your visit, you and your dentist will discuss the details of the procedure and your dentist will address any concerns you may have regarding the treatment or porcelain crowns in general.

Your dental practitioner will then apply a thin layer of reflective powder onto your tooth and will use a special 3D imaging camera to take a picture of your tooth. Using the new proprietary software, your restoration will be created according to your tooth's suitable form and function.

Then, it will use a diamond burs to produce your restoration out of a piece of ceramic. Finally, the ceramic restoration is bonded to your tooth using advanced adhesive dentistry.

Today's Topic Will Be:

Gum Disease (Periodontal Disease)

Gum disease is an infection of the tissues that surround and support your teeth. Since gum disease is usually painless, you may not know you have it. Also referred to as periodontal disease, gum disease is caused by plaque, the sticky film of germs that is constantly forming on our teeth.

Here are some warning signs that can signal a problem:

  • gums that bleed too quickly.

  • red, swollen, sore gums.

  • gums that have actually retreated from the teeth.

  • consistent bad breath or bad taste.

  • permanent teeth that are separating or loose.

  • any difference in the way your teeth fit together when you bite.

  • any difference in the fit of partial dentures.

There are numerous factors that enhance the risk of establishing gum disease including smoking cigarettes, pregnancy, and diabetes. It is necessary to visit your dentist if you suspect you have gum disease because the sooner you treat it the better.

The early stage of gum disease is called gingivitis. If you have gingivitis, your gums may become red, swollen and bleed easily. At this phase, the disease is still fixable and can usually be removed by a professional cleaning at your dental office, followed by everyday flossing and brushing.

Advanced gum disease is called periodontitis. Chronic periodontitis can result in the loss of bone and tissue that support the teeth and it may become more extreme in time. If it does, your teeth will feel loose and start moving around in your mouth. It typically gets worse slowly, however there can be periods of rapid progression.

Aggressive periodontitis is a highly destructive kind of gum disease that occurs in patients who are otherwise healthy. Common features include rapid loss of bone and tissue and may occur in some areas of the mouth, or in the entire mouth.

Research in between systemic diseases and gum diseases is ongoing. While a link is not conclusive, some research studies show that extreme periodontal disease might be related to a number of other health conditions such as stroke or diabetes.

Routine dental appointments and periodontal examinations are very important. The treatment methods that most dental professionals diagnose will rely on the type of disease and how far the condition has actually advanced. Excellent dental care in your home is important to help keep gum disease from becoming more severe or recurring.
