Tooth Veneers (Porcelain)
Veneers are a very thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a gorgeous and appealing smile.
Veneers can completely improve your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to most dental restorations, veneers may one day require replacement; however, they are still extremely resilient and will last many years, giving you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Set?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is put over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct method usually involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy generally involves two appointments because the veneers will be produced at a dental lab. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a short-term covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab produced veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the treatment is typically less uncomfortable. Veneers are not advised for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care directions for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will help in the life of your new and gorgeous veneers.
