Dental Crowns cover the outter surface area of the affected tooth, adding sturdiness and stability to it.

Same-day dental crowns are an option that we offer on a case by case basis to clients who would gain from the treatment. They allow patients to come to our office and leave within a couple hours with their permanent dental crown in place that same day. This removes the need to have a short-term crown placed and then another check-up scheduled for the positioning of the final crown.

Our Same-Day Crowns are made with our brand-new innovation that scans the mouth to get the proper measurements of your tooth and surrounding teeth, and then makes your crown right there in the office. These restorations are extremely strong and long lasting and made out of the highest quality porcelain available. In some cases, a gold crown might be recommended for your posterior teeth (back teeth) if you grind or clench your teeth a lot.

Gold crowns are different from porcelain crowns, and the cost may vary between the two and you might wish to talk about your budget too with the your dental practitioner. Your dental practitioner will discuss with you the kinds of crowns available and give you a recommendation based on your specific scenario.

Today Were Going Over:

Fillings

Fillings are done to eliminate decay, and replace the afflicted tooth structure. It is called a filling due to the fact that new material fills the hole that the decay left. Now days most teeth are treated with bonded tooth colored composite resin fillings. Caught early enough, cavities can be treated easily and painlessly. If not treated, decay can result in tooth pain and/or infection, and the tooth would need a root canal treatment or extraction.

There are two kinds of fillings; amalgam or silver fillings, and composite or white fillings. Composite fillings are tooth-colored to blend in with the remaining natural part of the tooth. Most dentists supply both kinds of fillings, but find that a number of their patients prefer the composite fillings.

The term composite refers to the actual filling material which is a mixture of glass or quartz filler in a resin medium.

Composite fillings provide excellent resilience and resistance to fracture in small-to-mid size restorations that have to hold up against moderate chewing pressure. Less tooth structure is eliminated when the dentist prepares the tooth, and this may result in a smaller sized filling than with of an amalgam.

In addition, composites are "bonded", or adhesively connected, to the tooth, commonly allowing a more conservative repair for the tooth. Composite fillings require that the tooth be kept clean and dry throughout the entire filling procedure and they go through stain and discoloration with time. The life span of a white filling can depend considerably on where it is in your mouth and how heavily your teeth come together when you bite.

Composite filling material is also frequently utilized to fix front teeth that have actually chipped or worn. Where possible, esthetic bonding of composite material to front teeth is generally much less expensive than veneers or crowns. However, bonding typically does not last as long as veneers or crowns.
