Porcelain Veneers (Tooth)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of durable, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a stunning and attractive smile.
Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the perfect option in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to the majority of dental restorations, veneers might one day need replacement; however, they are still really durable and will last multiple years, offering you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is put over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are normally only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or grinning. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique usually involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy usually involves 2 visits because the veneers will be produced at a dental laboratory. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a temporary covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab made veneers are usually made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are extremely esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the procedure is usually less uncomfortable. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have large fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care guidelines for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and regular dental visits will help in the life of your brand-new and gorgeous veneers.
