Porcelain Veneers (Tooth)
Veneers are a really thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental laboratory. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to create a gorgeous and appealing smile.
Veneers can entirely reshape your teeth and smile. They can often be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating lots of cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to the majority of dental restorations, veneers might someday need replacement; however, they are still really long lasting and will last years, offering you a long lasting, lovely smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental treatment where a covering is placed over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are typically only done to the part of the teeth that are seen when talking or smiling. The treatment can be direct or indirect.
The direct method normally involves positioning composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This approach is normally referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy normally involves 2 visits because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental lab. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are offered a short-term covering. In two to three weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab made veneers are generally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are very esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the procedure is normally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will receive care guidelines for your veneers. Proper brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your brand-new and beautiful veneers.
