Same day crowns are an innovative dental technology that is used for the restoration of decayed, cracked, or chipped teeth. This technology can produce complete crowns, onlays, inlays, and veneers. The same day crown machine crafts a restoration in a matter of minutes.

Same day crown restorations are made of compressed porcelain. It is for this reason that they are more durable than lab restorations, which are layered porcelain. The most beneficial feature of getting a same day crown restoration is that it is achieved in one visit. In addition to the benefit of a one visit restoration, there is no unpleasant impression material to bite on or a temporary crown to wear.

The procedure for placement of a same day crown restoration is extremely basic. The first step is to remove all decay from the tooth. The dentist will then shape the tooth in preparation to take a digital image. The tooth is then sprayed with a extremely fine powder. This enables the digital camera to take an acceptable image. When this image is recorded, the tooth will appear on a computer screen in 3D. This will permit the dental practitioner to design the restoration right in front of you.

Once the design is completed, the same day crown machine will mill the restoration. This step takes roughly 15 minutes. You can actually view this procedure if you would like. When the restoration is finished milling, the dental practitioner will put the restoration on your tooth.

Today's Topic Will Be:

Endodontic Treatment (Root Canal)

Root canal treatment (also described as root canal therapy or endodontic therapy) is required when a cavity is allowed, through neglect, to reach all the way to the root pulp. (Regular cleanings and checkups prevent and identify issues early). Sometimes deep restorations or trauma to a tooth might also cause the nerve to be harmed to the point it needs root canal treatment. Once this occurs, the pulp becomes infected, and can even extend through the root tip and start to eat away at the surrounding bone (this is an abscess).

By the time the pulp is infected it needs to be treated, and can not recover on its own. It can even damage the whole immune system. This is dangerous, and might be really agonizing. Symptoms that the pulp has become infected might include sensitivity to hot/cold or sugary foods, pain, swelling, pain to biting or pressure, and a bad taste in the mouth. Sometimes, however, no signs are apparent and the person is unaware of any problem up until a checkup.

A root canal is then carried out to clean out the infected tooth pulp, and decontaminate the canals of the tooth. The only other treatment would be to extract the tooth. As soon as the infection is fixed, the canal(s) are filled in to prevent any further infection. Generally a core build-up and crown is recommended for bring back a tooth that has had root canal treatment.
