Same Day Crowns - A Smart Innovation

We aim to stay current with the multitude of technological advances that are occurring in dentistry. We are proud to have the same day crown innovation in our office. It permits us to produce crowns and larger restorations in our office. Same day crowns use the most advanced dental innovation, including 3D video imaging and CAD/CAM technology. In layman's terms, it is a computer-designed restoration for your tooth. The whole treatment takes in between 1-2 hours and can be completed in one sitting.

Usually, a crown in the past would have needed two appointments. The very first visit consists of preparing the tooth, taking the mold, and fitting a temporary crown. During the 2nd visit, the temporary crown is replaced with the long-term one. With a same day crown, the whole procedure can be finished in simply one appointment. We will use video imaging innovation to tke a picture of the tooth and use CAD/CAM innovation to create the crown. This 3D design is wirelessly transferred to a milling device that sculpts the restoration out of a vacuum formed ceramic block. We will then adhere the new crown to your tooth. This eliminates the need to wear a temporary along with a 2nd appointment.

Corrective dentistry procedures can be essential to the overall health of your teeth and mouth. Please call our office and request a visit.

Temporal Mandibular Joint

TMJ stands for temporal-mandibular joint. Temporal, as in temple area of skull; mandibular as in mandible, or lower jaw; joint as in it's where the head and jaw meet. Problems in this joint might be caused by a misalignment of the teeth, trauma, or excess muscle stress. Aside from the two bones that meet there, cartilage buffers them and 5 muscles are involved in the area. If something fails a good deal of trouble can result.

Problems in this area can cause:

  • Earaches.

  • Headaches.

  • Pain in the jaw muscles.

  • Soreness in opening and closing the mouth.

  • Soreness in the area, often extending to the face.

  • Clicking or popping of the jaw.

Dental treatments for the condition can consist of replacing missing teeth, moving teeth, adjusting the bite, filling spaces between teeth, etc. There is no one solution that is right for all cases. Sometimes a plastic mouthpiece is used to prevent clenching or grinding that is adding to the problem. If unattended and required to extremes, surgery may be required to fix a severely damaged joint.
