Porcelain Tooth Veneers
Veneers are a really thin pieces of long lasting, tooth shaped, porcelain that are custom made (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a stunning and appealing smile.
Veneers can entirely improve your teeth and smile. They can typically be alternatives to crowns and the perfect solution in treating many cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to the majority of dental restorations, veneers might at some point require replacement; however, they are still extremely durable and will last multiple years, providing you a long lasting, beautiful smile.
How Are Veneers Placed?
Veneers are a dental procedure in which a covering is placed over the outside (visible area) of the tooth. Veneers are usually only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique usually involves putting composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This technique is typically referred to as bonding.
The indirect technique generally involves two appointments because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental lab. At the first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the laboratory, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The laboratory produced veneers are normally made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The benefit of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is eliminated, and the treatment is normally less uncomfortable. Veneers are not suggested for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care guidelines for your veneers. Correct brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will aid in the life of your new and lovely veneers.
