Porcelain Tooth Veneers
Veneers are a very thin pieces of resilient, tooth shaped, porcelain that are customizeded (for shape and color) by a professional dental lab. They are bonded onto the front of teeth to produce a stunning and appealing smile.
Veneers can entirely improve your teeth and smile. They can commonly be alternatives to crowns and the ideal solution in treating numerous cosmetic dental conditions for the front teeth.
Similar to most dental restorations, veneers might someday require replacement; however, they are still very durable and will last years, offering you a long lasting, stunning smile.
How Are Veneers Applied?
Veneers are a dental procedure where a covering is put over the outside (noticeable area) of the tooth. Veneers are generally only done to the part of the teeth that are visible when talking or grinning. The procedure can be direct or indirect.
The direct technique usually involves placing composite resin on the outside of the tooth using bonding. This method is usually referred to as bonding.
The indirect strategy usually involves 2 appointments because the veneers will be fabricated at a dental lab. At the very first visit the teeth are prepared, impressions taken, and the teeth are provided a temporary covering. In 2 to 3 weeks the veneers are back from the lab, the temporaries are removed and the veneers are bonded to the teeth. The lab fabricated veneers are typically made using porcelain or pressed ceramic, and are really esthetic.
The advantage of veneers versus crowns is that much less tooth material is removed, and the procedure is typically less uncomfortable. Veneers are not recommended for teeth that have huge fillings or little tooth structure.
You will get care instructions for your veneers. Appropriate brushing, flossing and routine dental visits will help in the life of your new and stunning veneers.
